Explore the countryside in and around Salzburg! Liechtenstein gorge

Beautiful, wild, long and cavernous – that is the Leichtenstein Gorge, one of the deepest gorges in the Alps. The powerful roar of the waterfall, the rich green moss-covered stone, an atmosphere shrouded in legend, and sunbeams that create a rainbow in the fine mist. This unique natural spectacle can be reached on foot (approx. 25 min walking time) or comfortably by car (approx. 5 min drive).

Alpendorf Bergbahnen - Seilbahnwandern

From the Alpendorf (the valley station is only 50 m from the hotel) the gondola will take you comfortably and quickly to the Gernkogel Alm and Hiking Area. Enjoy a brisk walk to the next alpine hut or be adventurous and spend the day hiking from peak to peak – whatever the case, cosy alpine restaurants and huts look forward to treating you to a beautiful view and a typical alpine snack of home-made bread, cheese, salami or whatever else takes your fancy!

The Alpendorf ghost mountain

An adventure park for the whole family on the Gernkogel (1,767 m). Spirits and ghosts for the little ones, slides and swings for the more adventurous, and panoramic views on all sides – not much more to be said! Waiting for you at the summit station is the Ghost Train with final destination GHOST VILLAGE! Climb aboard for your first quest or take the hiking path instead – whatever your choice, excitement and adventure await those who enter the gate!

Ice cave

Ice Giant’s cave - the larges ice caves in the world

Located approx. 25 km from the hotel is the Eisriesenwelt, home of the Ice Giants and the world’s largest ice cave. Experience ice palaces of crystal-clear beauty that will transport you into a world of ice even on hot summer days. A cave system of over 40km in length extends through the rugged limestone massif of the Tenne Mountain Range and houses this natural phenomenon (approx. 25 km away from the hotel).

Hohenwerfen Fortress

This former archbishop's fortified castle from the 11th century attracts visitors daily with castle tours, adventures and special events, a stylish castle tavern and knight's shop. Visitors can expect a variety of entertaining vignettes and special offers. Those who are hungry for adventure and culture will get their money's worth in Hohenwerfen.

Woodland Waldseilgarten Werfenweng

Adrenalin lovers and adventure seekers welcome! The Woodland Forest Rope Garden in Werfenweng is located approx. 20 km from the hotel and offers 6 different courses (incl. mini course for children from 4 years) and a Flying-X-Area at mid-station.

Grossglockner

Der Großglockner – the great bell ringer – austria’s highest mountain (3.798 m)

This most famous of Alpine roads will take you through the heart of the Hohe Tauern National Park to Austria's highest mountain, the Großglockner (3,798 m) and its glacier, the Pasterze. Stop in at visitor centres such as the Alpine Museum Nature Show, the Glockner Cinema and many others as you make your way to the Pasterze Glacier and the High Gate at 2,575m above sea level. The toll station is approx. 48km from the hotel.

Ferleiten

Ferleiten game park

The Ferleiten Game Park is on the Großglockner Road and provides for more than 200 animals on approx. 15 hectares. In the middle of the site is a large pond with plenty of seating and resting facilities as well as an observation tower. In addition to the wildlife park, the Ferleiten amusement park offers free admission to a large adventure area for children (approx. 47 km from the hotel).

Bad Dürrnberg salt mines

Discover Salzburg's roots in the oldest show mine in the world, followed by a visit to the Celtic village. Children (4 years and older) will be thrilled by the "slide tour" on the salt slides! For young and old adventurers there are special tours and adventure tours in the salt mine in Hallein all year round (approx. 45 km from the hotel).

Salzburg - WORLD CULTURAL HERITAGE AND FESTIVAL CITY

A stroll through Salzburg's old town will take you to such treasures as the Residenz, the Glockenspiel, the Cathedral, the Franciscan Church, the Mozartplatz, the Pferdeschwemme Fountain, the Hofstall Alley, the Hohensalzburg Fortress and St. Peter’s Monastery. The Salzburg Open Air Museum in Grossgmain is a fascinating trip through six centuries of Salzburg’s rural past. One hundred original buildings and workshops from the areas of agriculture, hand crafts, rural trade and industry have been reconstructed and the history of each researched and documented in meticulous detail. Wagrainis Grafenberg - Natur- & Bergerlebniswelt

The Wagrainis Grafenberg is a holiday paradise for children and young people that can also amaze interested adults. Engaging all your senses, this theme park will give you a better understanding of the alpine landscape around you – the flora and fauna of Salzburg’s Alps. The Grafenberg Gondola takes you comfortably and effortlessly up to 1,700 metres above sea level to "Wagrainis Grafenberg".

Tiergarten Hellbrunn

Salzburg Zoo - the home of 140 animal species from all over the world! The unique landscape on the Hellbrunn Mountain, with a steep rock face on one side and hilly foothills into the floodplain landscape on the other, is home to around 1200 wild animals in Salzburg Zoo. The Zoo Gates are open 365 days a year from 9:00 am!

Haus der Natur – natural history museum

A great attraction for young and old. Encompassing over 35 exhibitions, the Haus der Natur Natural History Museum will bring you closer to some of the most fascinating and noteworthy connections in nature. Located in Salzburg’s old town, the building is under preservation order and belongs to the UNESCO World Heritage Historical Centre of the City of Salzburg.

Krimmler Wasserfälle

The Krimml Waterfalls are the fifth highest waterfalls in the world with their impressive drop height of 380 m. A hiking trail created by the Austrian Alpine Association leads directly to this breathtaking natural spectacle and provides information and unique insights along the way. They are located on the edge of the village of Krimml, in the Hohe Tauern National Park, about 90 minutes by car.

Talmuseum (Valley museum)

The Valley Museum is located at the end of the Grossarl Valley, at the very end of the Grossarl National Road. Still a secret tip among the many visitors, the museum village brings to life a colourful mix of tradition and modernity, of yesterday and today for the always welcome guest.

Königssee – King lake

The Königssee is an elongated mountain lake in the German state of Berchtesgaden. It lies embedded in the mountains of the Berchtesgaden National Park below the Watzmann mountain. Round off your visit to the area with a boat trip to St. Bartholomä and let your captain treat you to a demonstration of the impressive echo that reverberates from the “echo wall” as he sounds his horn.

Salzkammergut

Considered the pearl of Salzburg Province, a day trip through the Salzkammergut Mountain and Lake District is an experience you will long remember. Visit the Dachstein caves, take a drive on the Austrian Romantic Road, enjoy a boat trip on the Attersee lake, a ride on one of the many cable cars or a tour of the Kaiser’s Villa with its Kaiser Park. The sites don’t stop there, so head to the area and see what you can find!

Alpine ore geopark

The visitor centre is the central starting point for your visit to the Geopark. The towns of Bischofshofen, Mühlbach am Hochkönig, Hüttau and St. Veit are showcased in a joint exhibition with authentic features relating to prehistoric and historic ore mining, making this an extraordinary and "understandable" experience. The visitor receives broad insights into the Geopark and its many attractions such as geosites, show mines, show tunnels and museums.
