Location & Directions
The Alpina is located in the heart of the Salzburg region, approximately 60 km south of the regional capital and Mozart’s city of Salzburg, and is easily accessible via the Tauern Autobahn. In the immediate vicinity of St. Johann in Salzburg, you’ll find a wide range of excursion options, various sports activities, and, of course, Snow Space Salzburg—part of the Skiwelt amadé, with over 760 kilometers of slopes and 270 state-of-the-art ski lifts—right on your doorstep.
Thanks to our direct connection to the highway, an hourly train service from Salzburg Central Station, and access to Salzburg Airport, we are easy and quick to reach. A free shuttle from the train station in St. Johann is, of course, available. And, of course, we are also happy to pick you up at Salzburg Airport or Munich Airport for a fee.
Your Travel Arrangements
From Salzburg – A10 Tauern Autobahn – take the Bischofshofen/Sankt Johann im Pongau exit – continue to the Sankt Johann Süd interchange, then follow signs for Alpendorf/Großarl; after about 3 km, take the Alpendorf exit.
From Vienna – take the A1 West highway toward Linz, St. Pölten, Pressbaum – at the Salzburg interchange, switch from the A1 to the A10 toward Graz, Villach – exit the A10 at the Bischofshofen / Sankt Johann exit – continue to the Sankt Johann Süd interchange, then follow signs toward Alpendorf / Großarl; after about 3 km, take the Alpendorf turnoff.
From Munich – take the A8 toward Salzburg – switch from the A8 to the A1 – at the Salzburg interchange, exit the A1 and take the A10 toward Graz, Villach – exit the A10 at the Bischofshofen / Sankt Johann exit – continue to the Sankt Johann Süd interchange, then follow signs toward Alpendorf / Großarl; after about 3 km, take the Alpendorf turnoff.
St. Johann im Pongau is also easily accessible by train. The Austrian Federal Railways website lists all train connections to St. Johann im Pongau. You can view the schedule as a PDF, print it out, or have it sent to you by email. We’ll pick you up at the train station!

Salzburg Airport is 60 km away from the Alpina Alpendorf, and Munich Airport is 190 km away. Several airlines operate flights to Salzburg Airport from many German and international airports. We are happy to offer our comfortable, private shuttle service from the airport directly to our hotel; please make a reservation well in advance.
